Import data from unstructured files

Attach documents to your conversation with Rowan to pull data into your spreadsheet. You can tell Rowan what to extract in your prompt, or just ask him to fill in a template.

These are the file types that Rowan supports:

  • PDF

  • Image (JPEG, JPG, PNG)

  • Plain text (TXT)

  • E-mail (EML, MSG)

You can attach as many files as you want, and the total size of the attached documents must be smaller than 20MB. If the files attached have too much content, you might reach the limit of Rowan's context window — you will get a warning if that happens.

Audit sources of values with granular citations

You can quickly review the source of every value imported by Rowan thanks to citations.

Select a cell that was imported by Rowan — marked by a red triangle — and then click the "Source for" button that appears above the chat box in the add-in panel. Rowan will instantly bring up the source document, scrolled on the page from where the value has been extracted.

Use documents as context

Rowan isn't just great at extracting information from files. He can also work on your spreadsheet while inferring context from those documents.

For example, you can attach some invoices and ask Rowan to fill a cell with the total spent across all of them. Or you can ask Rowan to answer questions — either in the chat, or directly on the spreadsheet — based on the information found in the documents you have attached.
